I’m Back, but also, Hello World!

This account was created a long time ago — like pretty much in the stone age at this point. Back in those days, Travis Neilson still ran DevTips, no one commented on videos asking where Travis was, and we still remembered him bouncing around in his hotel room before giving a tutorial on how to make an email that actually works everywhere.

By now, you’re probably asking yourself “Who’s writing this?” “I thought David and MPJ of FFF owned all of this now.” Well, I guess you could say thats fair, and they do still have a stake in the channel, and the community, because thats important to me, the new host of DevTips.

Who am I?

My name is Andrew Krause. I’m a longtime community member of DevTips, since around 2014 when Travis started publishing videos — in fact, I’m in a few of the Office Hours videos, although, I look hideous and very awkward in there since I had no clue what I was doing back in those days. I started the official Discord server almost a week after Travis announced that he was taking a step back from DevTips and had started to look around for the next host. I was nervous that whoever took over the channel would close the Slack community and all of those friendships would be lost, hence the need for a 3rd party community chat. I’m also a moderator of David and MPJ’s FunFunFunction Discord and Twitch channel, however of course, they’re on an indefinite leave of absence from those channels, although they’re not gone for good I don’t think.

What do I bring to the table?

In my professional life, I’m a software engineer working in the telecommunications industry. I specialize in React and PHP, and dabble in many other languages such as Python, Ruby (when absolutely necessary), C++, Java (mainly for coffee only), JavaScript (shocker), HTML, CSS, and MYSQL. I got my start as a developer a long time ago working as a SharePoint Systems Engineer where I worked on an internship project rebuilding the file structure and building some SharePoint sites to go along with those structures.
